Since 2001, Dr. Kay Diedrich has established and built up the IT/IP Department at Kümmerlein Rechtsanwälte & Notare. His clients include local and international companies who are either the customers or service providers of IT services requiring legal advice on the development of carefully-planned sourcing or distribution strategies and the drafting and negotiation of the necessary contracts. Complex IT projects (e.g. software development, outsourcing), data protection and international technological collaboration fall within the scope of his specialised area. Additionally Dr. Kay Diedrich has long-standing experience in the resolution of conflicts concerning IT and the new media with authorities, courts, in arbitration proceedings and in negotiating successful settlements.
Dr. Kay Diedrich studied in Wuppertal from 1989 until 1992 where he received his Master of Public Business Administation and then went on to study Law in Saarbrücken from 1992 until 1996. As from 1993 he was employed first as a student assistant and later as a research associate at Prof. Dr. Helmut Rüßmann‘s Institute for Computer Law. After his legal clerkship and passing his second legal state examination in 1999, Dr. Kay Diedrich did his doctorate and started practicing as a lawyer at the international law firm Bruckhaus Westrick Heller Löber (after merger, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer). In September 2001 Dr. Kay Diedrich changed to Kümmerlein Rechtsanwälte & Notare. In 2007 he qualified as a certified IT lawyer. Dr. Kay Diedrich speaks German and English. He has gained widespread experience in drafting and negotiating contracts in English.
